recording purposes. The possible choices are:

Input/Disk
This is the default selection. With this setting, the
Attaché takes its audio from either the audio input or
from off-disk, depending upon whether the disk is
playing (Disk) or if Bypass is active (Input).

Silence
With this setting, the Attaché will record silence,
regardless of whether or not Bypass is active and an
audio input signal is present. This setting provides a
convenient means of recording silence to the disk, even
when there is an audio signal present at the input to
Attaché.
Â
Tone
With this setting, the Attaché will record and internal
test tone, regardless of whether or not Bypass is active
and an audio input signal is present. This setting
provides a convenient means of recording a steady
1kHz tone to the disk, even when there is or is not an
audio signal present at the input to Attaché. The tone
generator provides a 0dB setup tone, relative to the
selected operating level (selected by softkey
).

) to toggle to the desired audio operating level for
both playback and recording purposes within Attaché. All operating level
selections p20dB of headroom, with the exception of the +8dB setting
that provides 16dB of headroom. The proper selection for the operating level
depends upon the equipment that you’re connecting Attaché to. Most professional
and some “pro-sumer” equipment operate at 8dB, +4dB, or 0dB. Most
consumer equipment operates within the -10dB to -20dB range. The possible
choices are:

+4dB
This is the default selection. With this setting, the
audio input/output operating level is set to +4dB. The
headroom for this setting is 20dB.
Â
0dB
Selects the audio input/output operating level of +0dB.
The headroom for this setting is 20dB.
