The button is used to assign the Shuttle function to the rotary
knob on the Attaché control panel. When the button is
pressed, the LED within the button is illuminated to indicate that
the shuttle function is selected. At the same time, any other
transport function which was underway (except for and
) is
canceled, and is automatically selected with its LED
illuminated.
While the button is selected, the rotary knob may be used to
rewind or advance the disk at slower- and faster-than normal play
speeds. There are 29 total play speeds that are applied to the disk
when the rotary knob is turned (14 forward, 14 reverse, and zero).
When the button is first selected, the STOP function is also
selected, and the play speed is set to zero. As the rotary knob is
turned clockwise, the play speed increments to 0.250 speed after
the knob has gone through four mechanical ‘clicks’. Continuing
through four more clicks, the play speed increments to 0.500 play
speed. As the knob is turned further, the play speed increases after
each group of four clicks. The 10 play speeds are:
0.250 0.500 0.750 1.000 2.000
5.000 10.000 30.000 60.000 90.000
While Shuttle is active, if the disk reaches the physical ending, the
disk stops playback and the shuttle speed is automatically set to
0.000 speed. However, the Shuttle function remains active.
Therefore, if the rotary knob is turned in the opposite direction, the
disk may then be shuttled away from the disk (or play list) end
stop.
While the Shuttle function is active, pressing any other transport
button (
, , , etc.) will cancel the shuttle mode, and will
therefore turn OFF the LED within the button.
