Use this setting when recording or playing images via
“non-video” means, such as with Ethernet. If you are
recording or playing using a “video” pathway, it’s
strongly recommended that each video device be
externally locked to the same reference. Therefore, the
“
Ref In
” Play Reference should be used.
If the “Record Ref ” parameter in the Setup Video Timing Menu is currently set to
“
Ref In
” or “
Free Run
”, then an asterisk (*) will be shown to the immediate left of the
“Play Ref ” label in this menu. This asterisk reminds you that during recording
operations, the synchronizing signal will automatically switch to input video,
regardless of the current setting of the “Play Ref ” parameter.

If no valid video signal is detected at the selected input, then the warning
message NO SYNC! appears on the Status Menu Overlay display.

F4 Test Pattern
Press
(
Test Pattern
) to recall a full-screen test pattern to all of the
video outputs. The right-hand column displays the current test pattern. Toggle
the softkey to select between the test patterns in the order indicated below, or type
the indicated number into the numeric keypad, and then press
to select
the pattern directly.

Since it takes a very long time to
draw, the “Random” pattern is
skipped over when toggling the
softkey by itself to
select test patterns. To select the
“Random” pattern, type 4 on the
numeric keypad, and then press the
softkey.
Test patterns are automatically frozen to allow you to record them at the current or
a new location on the disk. To clear a pattern, unfreeze the Attaché by pressing
the button. Alternatively, the test pattern may be removed by enabling
Bypass (press the button). Test patterns are available in both 8-bit or 10-bit
resolutions, depending on which resolution you have selected for the Attaché
system.
