F2 PreRead Offset
This softkey function is used to define the offset during PreRead record
operations. This value is used only if the PreRead record mode is selected with
softkey
. When the Offset value is set to 00.00, the PreRead recordings
will immediately overwrite the original source video and key (if enabled). This is
called a “destructive” PreRead.
By typing a timecode value into the numeric keypad and then pressing the
softkey, you may change the PreRead Offset value, thus defining a “non-
destructive” PreRead.
Specifying a positive timecode value will cause the newly recorded material to be
recorded to a distant timecode location in a forward direction on the disk, away
from the original source material.
For example, if the PreRead Offset is defined as
1.00.00
, with a new PreRead
record IN point defined at
5.00
on the disk, the playback material will be
obtained from that found at
5.00
on the disk, while the new recording will take
place at
1.05.00
on the disk. In order to record the playback material back onto
the disk, the video output from Attaché is routed back to the video input, usually
through an external keying device. Refer both to the illustration in Figure 2.30
below, and to the illustration in Figure 2.29 above.

operation in a single disk channel, but without destroying the playback material as
with a standard “destructive” PreRead operation.

This softkey function is used to define the amount of external video/audio signal
processing delay that exists in the signal path from the Attaché output to the
