disk reverses and plays backwards to the IN point, then
reverses and plays forward again.
When you press the button, the disk plays
backwards from the OUT point to the IN point, reverses
and plays forward to the OUT point. The Ping Pong
play repeat cycle continues until the
button is
pressed. Figure 2.18 illustrates an example of Ping
Pong function in Forward Play.
During Seg Play mode, Ping Pong works in a similar
manner as in the Normal Play mode, but uses the
segment play list timeline instead of the Normal Play
timeline. To define the Ping Pong IN and OUT points
during Seg Play mode, you may use either Segment IDs
or timecode values on the Segment Timeline.
If you choose to define the segments using the Segment
IDs, the entire segments as defined by the segment IDs
are included in the Ping Pong . For example, if six
segments exist in the segment play list, you may Ping
Pong from segment two through segment five. If you
define the same segment ID as the IN and OUT
segments, then that single segment will be used for the
Ping Pong . If starting and ending segments are not
defined as the IN and OUT points, then all segments in
the segment play list are used for Segment Ping Pong
playback.
Alternatively, you can also use timecode/frames on the
segment timeline to define the IN and OUT points. In
this case, the Ping Pong acts the same as in the Normal
Play mode, except that the Ping Pong material is
defined by the Segment List Timeline.
