1.6 Applications
The Accom APR
yyAttaché Digital Disk Recorder is the ideal peripheral device for a
vast number of real-time online editing systems (such as the Accom Axial editing
system). The Attaché system is also perfectly suited for use in telecine suites, acting
as a video capture device at the output of the telecine. Video material may be stored
on the Attaché as either full-bandwidth digital YUV with 4:2:2 sampling, or as full-
bandwidth digital RGB with 4:4:4 sampling when the optional KeyTrack

feature is
fitted.
The Attaché is also well-suited for computer workstation applications that involve
processing or creating images on a frame-by-frame or field-by-field basis. With the
Attaché, rendered frames can be played back in real time, allowing you to view the
end result of a creative process in full motion, with full quality, on a video monitor.
The Attaché system also eliminates the need to render to tape-based or other network
related devices, greatly enhancing speed, quality, and productivity. As you create
graphics on your computer workstation, the images are transferred to the Attaché for
real time playback.
The optional KeyTrack

feature for Attaché provides the ability to record and play a
key signal that is associated with the video. This option also provides the capability
to record full-bandwidth 4:4:4 digital RGB video images as two 4:2:2 SDI (Serial
Digital Interface) video streams from telecine equipment.
You can also record "live" television audio, video and key on the Attaché and then
transfer these images to a computer workstation for rotoscoping or other graphic
image manipulation. The Attaché acts as the ideal interface between the world of
computer imaging and the video environment.
The three typical applications for Attaché include, but are not limited to:

Online Editing Application
The Attaché may be utilized as a playback source DDR, master record DDR, or as
a B-Roll Cache device within an on-line editing system, with control via RS422
serial communications. Both linear and non-linear editing are easily supported by
the Attaché.

Telecine Application
Transferring 16mm, 35mm, or 70mm film to video is made very easy with the
Attaché digital disk recorder, without the wear-and-tear experienced with video
tape machines. Attaché may be fitted in a real-time telecine suite or non-real-time
