• Start in gear protection
5. Check:
• Start switch
6. Check:
• Engine stop lanyard switch
Checking steps:
• Set the shift lever to forward or reverse.
• Turn the key to START.
→
Starter motor does not operate.
• Set the shift lever to neutral.
• Turn the key to START.
→
Starter motor operates.
Checking steps:
• Turn the key to ON, then to START.
→
Starter motor operates and the engine
is turned on.
• Turn the key to OFF.
→
Engine is turned off.
Checking steps:
• Start the engine and let it idle.
• Pull the lanyard from the engine stop lan-
yard switch.
→
Engine is turned off.
7. Check:
• Engine idle speed
8. Check:
• Power trim and tilt switch
Checking steps:
• Start the engine and let it idle.
• Move the tiller handle.
• Tilt the tiller handle up and down.
→
Steady engine idle speed is maintained.
Checking steps:
• Turn the key to ON.
• Push and hold the switch:
UP
→
Outboard motor tilts up.
DN
→
Outboard motor tilts down.
Release the switch
→
Outboard motor
stops in its current position.
