This section describes the flow of setting for connecting the printer to a Windows NT/Windows 2000
server (workstation) using the TCP/IP protocol. To print in TCP/IP environment, ensure that the
Windows NT/Windows 2000 server (workstation), client, and printer have been assigned their
respective IP addresses to connect to the network. It is necessary to specify at the Windows NT/
Windows 2000 server (workstation), the IP address assigned to the printer using the port settings. A
printer driver compatible with the printer must be used for the setup.
6.1.1
Flow of setting
There are three possible network printer connections when printing from environments
using Windows NT/Windows 2000:

Windows 2000 server (workstation)
[2] From a Windows NT/Windows 2000 server (workstation) directly
[3] From a Windows NT/Windows 2000 client through a Windows NT/Windows 2000

Unless otherwise indicated, the following flow is applicable to all three connections.
