Appendix B Connector and Allocation Signals
Meaning of the signals
• FG(Pin No.1)
Connected to frame ground.
• TXD(Out)(Pin No.2)
Signal for transmitting data.
• RXD(In)(Pin No.3)
Signal for receiving data.
• RTS(Out)(Pin No.4)
A HIGH active signal which indicates that the printer is requesting for transmission. Becomes
HIGH when the power of the printer is ON, and remains HIGH until the power is OFF.
• CTS(In)(Pin No.5)
A HIGH active signal which indicates that the host device can receive data. Printer will ignore
this signal.
• DSR(In)(Pin No.6)
A signal which indicates that the host device can receive data. The purpose of DSR changes
according to the settings.
• SG(Pin No.7)
Connected to signal ground.
• (Reserved)(Pin No. 8-10,18)
Not in use.
• NC(Pin No.11-17,19,21-25)
Not connected.
• DTR(Out)(Pin No.20)
A signal which indicates that the printer can operate. The operation of DTR changes according
to the settings.

When the hardware flow control was selected, the serial interface cable configurations
for host to printer are as follows:
