5.3 Common Menu Items
Menu Item
Explanation
lpd/PD*
To be set when using the lpd/PD port:
• PDL Mode - Note (1), Look (1)
Sets the PDL mode.
The candidate values are as follows:
• Auto (Default)
Automatic determination of which language is used to record the data received from
the host and execute appropriate printing output according to the data.
• PCL 6
Processes data received from the host device as PCL 6 language.
• PostScript 3
Processes data received from the host device as PostScript language.
• PJL Switch - Look (2)
Sets the PJL commands sent from the host device to valid or invalid.
The candidate values are as follows:
• ON (Default)
Accepts PJL commands.
• OFF
Ignores PJL commands.
• Transport
Sets the protocol of the transport layer used by lpd, Direct Print Utility or PrintDirect.
The candidate values are as follows:
• TCP/IP
Sets TCP/IP which is to be used as a protocol of the transport layer to valid (ON) or
invalid (OFF) in lpd or Direct Print Utility.
• IPX/SPX
Sets IPX/SPX which is to be used as a protocol of the transport layer to valid (ON)
or invalid (OFF) in PrintDirect.
• When Menu is presssed after setting, a system reset will be executed. During
the system reset, the display will show "Please wait" and key operations are
not accessible.
NetWare*
To be set when using the NetWare port:
• PDL Mode - Note (1), Look (1)
Sets the PDL mode.
The candidate values are as follows:
• Auto (Default)
Automatic determination of which language is used to record the data received from
the host and execute appropriate printing output according to the data.
• PCL 6
Processes data received from the host device as PCL 6 language.
• PostScript 3
Processes data received from the host device as PostScript language.
