Explanation
Serial (con't...)
• Xon-Xoff Control
Sets the Xon-Xoff Control (software flow control) for serial interface.
When the buffer of the receiving side is almost full, Xon-Xoff control returns Xoff code
to the transmitting side and stops data transmission temporarily. After that, when the
receiving buffer is free to a certain extent by internal processing, Xon code is returned
and data transmission is resumed.
The candidate values are as follows:
• Yes (Default)
Enables Xon-Xoff control.
• No
Disables Xon-Xoff control.
• When the flow control is to be disabled, set Xon-Xoff Control to No and DTR
Control to Fix-High or Fix-Low.
• Use DTR control when binary data is included in the receive data.
• DTR Control
Sets the operation (hardware flow control) of DTR signal for serial interface.
DTR (Data Terminal Ready) is a hardware signal that determines whether the printer is
able to receive data from the host device.
The candidate values are as follows:
• Fix-High (Default)
Always sets DTR signal to high regardless of whether or not it is able to receive
data.
• Fix-Low
Always sets DTR signal to low regardless of whether or not it is able to receive data.
• Active-High
Sets DTR signal to high when it is able to receive data and to low when it is unable
to receive data.
• Active-Low
Sets DTR signal to low when it is able to receive data and to high when it is unable
to receive data.
• The input of DTR signal is only valid when it is set to Active-High.
• When the flow control is to be disabled, set DTR Control to Fix-High or
Fix-Low and Xon-Xoff Control to No.
• When hardware flow control is to be executed, it is necessary to have a
cable that connects the control signal line correctly. For more details, refer
to "Appendix B.2 Serial Interface".
