6.5.11.1
Configuration of a Channel
Depending on the variant, the
Navigation Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200
has one or two
channels. The parameters for the channels are set during commissioning of the
Naviga-
tion Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200
and may only be changed if modifications are made
to the system (e.g. changing of the transducer model).
The following parameters can be configured:

Distance between transducer and keel in

Blocking depth
Blocking depth in metres
The blocking depth defines the distance
under the transducer at which the depth
measurement is to be started. This pre-
vents, for example, an echo reflected by
parts of the ship in the vicinity of the trans-
ducer leading to wrong depth measure-
ment values.

Changes to the configuration parameters may only be made by qualified personnel.
