Technical Description

3.1

Functional Description

The 

Navigation Echo Sounder ELAC LAZ 5200

 is designed for electro-acoustic vertical 

range measurement under water.

The system measures the distance between the installation location of the transducer 
and the sea bed, and hence calculates the depth under keel. The depth information is 
calculated from the time between the transmission of a sonar pulse (underwater sound) 
and the arrival of the reflected sound waves. The depth data are displayed as an echo-
gram and as a numerical value on the monitor of the
