General Information on Cable Laying
When laying the cables, adhere to the following requirements:
•
Observe the minimum bending radii of the connection cables according to the dimen-
sional drawings (
•
Take care not to damage the cable sheath when using cable ties.
•
Do not fasten the connection cables using metal cable ties.
•
Do not lay the connection cables over sharp corners and edges.
•
Strain relief of the connection cables must be ensured by the shipyard.
•
Transducer cables must be laid at a distance of at least 0.5 m to other cables.
•
The transducer cable from the transducer to the distribution box must be laid in a steel
conduit.
•
A double sheathed cable is used as connection cable from the distribution box to the
echo sounder. The inner cable sheath is connected at one end to the grounding ter-
minal of the echo sounder, the outer cable sheath at both ends to the ship’s earth.
•
Sheathed cables must be used over the whole length between the transducer and the
echo sounder. All distribution boxes must be made of metal.
NOTICE
Damage to the cables possible.
Failure to observe the admissible bending radii can result in damage to the connection
cables.
Observe the admissible bending radii during all cable connection and laying work.
NOTICE
Loosening of screws possible
Vibration and impact loads can cause screws and threaded joints to come loose.
Secure all bolted connections with medium-strength bolt locking compound (e.g.
Loctite 243) during installation.
