Exhaust aftertreatment system
Regeneration
WARNING
Risk of burns.
Engine and exhaust system components get very
hot and can cause severe burns.
Avoid contact with engine compartment covers,
engine components and exhaust system until the
engine is cooled down.
NOTE!
Some smoke might be seen coming from the
exhaust stack during regeneration of the
aftertreatment system on a machine run on diesel
fuel with high sulfur content.
The purpose of regeneration is to raise the
temperature in the aftertreatment system so that
any trapped substances are burned off to allow the
system to regain its full capacity.
Normal operation
During normal operation, passive regeneration
occurs continuously.
Automatic regeneration
Automatic regeneration is performed automatically
with a moving machine and operator action is not
required.
