Installing client caching to improve Global Administrator
performance
Client caching enhances Global Administrator performance, especially for slow modem
connections.
Note the following:
• On a broadband or LAN connection, client caching will not have much affect. It is mainly
intended for dial-up connections.
• You must install client caching on each administrator PC every time you upgrade Wave
ISM.
• Client caching remains active until the next Wave ISM upgrade.
• You must restart the administrator PC after installing client caching to enable it.
To install client-side caching:
1. Click the
Client Caching
icon at the top of the Global Administrator Management
Console.
2. The Global Administrator Client-Side Caching Web page opens. Read it, and then click
the download link. Do not run the installation program from the Web page.
3. Click
Save
. In the Save As dialog box, browse to the location on the administrator PC
where you want to save the installation program, and then click
Save
.
4. Close all open programs.
5. Double-click the installation program icon, and follow the on-screen instructions.
6. When installation is complete, restart the administrator PC. You do not need to restart the
administrator PC immediately, but client caching will not be enabled until you do.
Verifying installed hardware components
You can use the Chassis View applet in the Global Administrator Management Console to verify
that all of the cards and modules installed in the Wave Server are recognized by the Wave ISM
and are functioning properly. Chassis View shows all modules and cards installed in the Wave
Server, as well as the status LEDs on those components.
