Wave Server Installation Guide
•
Automatic updates
: If automatic updates are turned on in the domain, the Wave Server
will download Microsoft updates automatically. These updates may affect, interfere, or
hinder system operation.
Important:
It is imperative that the Wave Server does not download any automatic
updates from Microsoft or the domain controller—the Wave Server must be fully
exempted from Group Policies. If the Wave Server receives automatic updates, it can and
very likely will cause erratic behavior to the point that your system will no longer be
operational. In a worst-case scenario, recovery may require that the Wave Server be
returned to factory default settings and your system entirely rebuilt.
•
Internet time
: If Internet time is turned on in the domain, that setting will apply as well to
the Wave Server, causing a conflict with the time server setting on the Wave Server (set
via the General Settings applet).
Also, when the Wave Server is a member of your Windows domain, the Internet Time tab
does not appear in the Date and Time tool in the Windows Control Panel. This issue is
documented in the Microsoft support article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289689.
Changing the default host name of the Wave Server
By default, each Wave Server is named “IO-DEFAULT” in the Host Name field in the IP
Network Settings applet. It is important to change this not only to something meaningful to the
group managing the IT infrastructure, but also to make it unique if you are using WaveNet and
more than one Wave Server resides on the same network segment.
To change the IP network settings on the Wave Server:
Warning:
The IP addresses used for the Wave Server's VAM, ISC and MRM (if an
MRM is installed) must reside in the same subnet. Under no circumstances should a Wave
Server be installed with public IP addresses, even if those IP addresses are all part of the
same subnet. Using public IP addresses is a major security risk.
1.
From the administrator PC, log on to the Global Administrator Management Console on
the Wave Server using your Wave user name and password.
2.
Select
IP Network Settings
in the Data Administration section.
