Chapter 5: Connecting to the Wave ISM from the administrator PC
Wave Server Installation Guide
Connecting to the Wave Server via your network
This section describes how to connect to the Wave ISM from the administrator PC using a
standard Ethernet cable. (You can also connect using a network hub, switch, or router.)
1.
Connect one end of a standard, straight-through Ethernet cable to the network card in the
administrator PC. Connect the other end of the cable to the RJ-45 Ethernet port, labeled
ENET 1 on the front of the ISC1 (Wave IP 2500), or ENET on the front of the ISC2
(Wave IP 500).
Important:
On the Wave IP 2500, ENET 1 is the Wave Server’s primary interface and
under normal conditions it is the
only interface that should be connected to your LAN
. The
port labeled ENET 2 is only used in special circumstances, as described in “About the
Ethernet ports on the Wave IP 2500 Server” on page 4-13.
2.
Launch Microsoft Internet Explorer. If the administrator PC is running Windows XP SP2
or higher, go to step 3. Else, go to step 5.
3.
Warning:
In Windows XP SP2, Microsoft enhanced the default browser security
in Internet Explorer. These security defaults affect the functionality of the Global
Administrator Management Console (for example, by disabling or hiding some
applets). To ensure that you do not encounter any problems when using the
Management Console, perform the following steps:
1.
On the administrator PC, in Internet Explorer choose
