Installing SmartPass®
SmartPass while determining the read zone. After you have defined the read
zone, tighten all screws and straps.
Installing SmartPass on a Flat Surface
You can install SmartPass on a flat surface, such as a wall, ceiling, or overhead
structure using the factory-mounted bracket and the pole-mount bracket. This
mounting will allow you to adjust SmartPass up or down. However, if you need
additional flexibility in aiming your SmartPass, you will need to use the accessory
bracket. The accessory bracket allows you to adjust SmartPass up, down, left, and
right.
Installing SmartPass on a Flat Surface Without Using the
Accessory Bracket
Follow the instructions below to install SmartPass on a flat surface without using the
accessory bracket
1.
Unpack SmartPass. A factory-mounted bracket is attached to the back of
SmartPass. A pole-mount bracket is packaged separately in the SmartPass
shipping carton. These two brackets allow you to adjust SmartPass up and
down.
2.
Using 0.6-cm bolts, attach the pole-mount bracket to the flat surface. Tighten
slightly.
3.
Using the four machine screws and washers that come with the pole-mount
bracket, attach SmartPass to the pole-mount bracket. The screws should be
loose enough that you can adjust SmartPass up or down.
4.
Adjust SmartPass to point to the area where tags must be read.
Figure 5-3 shows SmartPass installed to an overhead structure. This mounting uses
the factory-mounted bracket and the pole-mount bracket. Tags would be mounted on
the top center of the windshield interior.
