8. Position an assembly spacer and yellow assembly washer (refer to
Rebuilding Tools (page 2–18)
) on each end of the roller shaft (
).
Thread the nut onto each end of the shaft.
9. Tighten each nut until the yellow assembly washers bottom out against the
roller housing. Remove the nuts, assembly washers, and assembly spacers
from the roller shaft.
10. Lubricate the lips of installed seals with #2 grease.
11. Carefully slide a dry V-ring onto each bearing locknut. The V-rings should
be installed without any lubrication.
Note:
If original bearing locknut(s) are being used, apply Loctite #242 (or
equivalent) to the threads of the locknut(s).
12. Install the bearing locknut with V-ring onto each end of the roller shaft; torque
the locknuts to
34 to 41 N∙m (25 to 30 ft-lb)
.
