lnstaIIation

1. lnsert shaft

(1)

through needle bearing housing in gearcase.

2. Coat the new needle bearing with genuine gear oil. Slide
bearing onto shaft from propeIIer shaft side of gearcase so

bearing stamped surface

faces propeller shaft side.

CAUTION

Stamped surface of needle bearing must face
propeller shaft side of gearcase or bearing could
be damaged during installation.

3. Attach retainer

from propeller shaft side of gearcase to

specified shaft groove

. Make sure retainer is fully seated

in groove with raised surface facing bearing.

4. Slide guide

onto shaft from water pump side of gearcase.

Make sure guide is seated in bearing.

5. Install stopper

onto shaft from water pump side of gearcase.

6. Hold end of threaded shaft with wrench and tighten nut

7. Remove tools and verify needle bearing is fully seated in housing.

Propeller Shaft Needle Bearing

Removal

1. Remove oil seal from propeller shaft housing.

2. Remove roller bearing from propeller shaft housing by heating
the housing with hot water.

3. Place shaft

4. Attach retainer A

to shaft groove

with raised surface of

retainer facing bearing.

5. Slide guide B

and flange B

onto shaft and secure with

washer

and nut

6. Tighten nut

until needle bearing releases from housing.
