IMC8 Flash Memory Card

The IMC8 Flash Memory card is a removable component of the Coral IPx Office
common control section. It is installed on the MCB Office. The IMC8 card
incorporates 8 MB of Erasable, Programmable, Read-Only Memory (flash EPROM).
The IMC16 card is a 16MB flash memory card. For specific applications, the
IPx Office might require an IMC16 flash memory card. Contact the
manufacturer’s representative for further information.
The IMC8 card is used to store the generic feature software version of the
Coral IPx Office system. The generic feature software determines the feature
operation of the Coral IPx Office system. In addition, the IMC8 card is used to store
the database backup and the boot code. See
Figure 8-15 .

IMC8 card provides an extremely reliable and non-volatile storage medium, yet
allows field software update capability. Once programmed, the flash EPROM memory
retains its contents indefinitely without power. However, by using a precisely
controlled erase procedure, the entire EPROM contents can be flash cleared and then
reprogrammed to update the operating software of the system.
The IMC8 FlashLite Linear PC card provides an easy, simple data storage in a
standard PCMCIA Type I form factor. The FlashLite PC Card provides a rugged,
removable linear flash data storage solution for mobile, embedded systems and
Telecom applications. The card can also be inserted into a PC slot using any PCMCIA
application adapter for loading a new Coral software version.
