SECTION 2 | SERVICING THE HIGH LIFT TRUCK
2.3.1 | Hydraulic Pressure Relief Valve
Adjustment
The hydraulic pressure relief valve is located on the hydraulic directional
control valve (Figure 2.3.1). Adjust as follows:
1. Start the engine and raise and lower the stabilizers several times.
This raises the hydraulic fluid temperature.
2. Lower the stabilizers fully and keep engaging the stabilizers down
control switch. The pressure gauge should indicate approximately
1900 psi (131 bar).
3.
If the pressure is incorrect, first loosen the lock nut on the pressure
relief adjusting screw, and adjust as follows:
Increase - To increase the pressure setting, turn the valve
adjustment screw clockwise (inward). An Allen wrench is required.
Decrease - To decrease the pressure setting, turn the valve
adjustment screw counterclockwise (outward).
4. If necessary, operate the stabilizers and readjust the pressure relief
until the stabilizers operate at the desired rate. Record the pressure
reading for future reference.
5. Tighten the jam nut on the pressure relief valve.
2.3.2 | Flow Control Valve Adjustment
There is one adjustable flow control valve on one of the lift cylinders,
near the lift cylinder lock valve. This flow control valve regulates the lift’s
lowering speed. The raising speed depends on the engine speed.
2.3.2.1 | Increasing the rate
To increase the rate of travel, turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise
(outward).
2.3.2.2 | Decreasing the rate
To decrease the rate of travel, turn the adjusting screw clockwise (inward).
2.3.3 | Bleeding Air from Hydraulic Lines
Follow these steps:
1.
Loosen the fitting on the highest connection on the downstream
side of the pump.
2. Run the hydraulic pump until all the air is released.
3.
Tighten the connection and check for fluid leaks.
2.3 | ADJUSTMENTS
NOTE:
After adjusting the flow
control valve, raise and lower
the lift. If necessary, continue
to adjust the valve until the
lift moves at the desired rate.
