SECTION 2 | SERVICING THE HIGH LIFT TRUCK
2.1 | SERVICING
WARNING!
Van body must be securely
blocked whenever elevated
for routine or preventive
maintenance servicing.
The maintenance stops are
intended for light routine
maintenance only. The van
must be strongly supported
at all four corners whenever
any repairs are made to the
structural or hydraulic system.
WARNING!
Perform no welding, cutting,
patching, etc., on any load
bearing or supporting
structure. If such repairs
are necessary, contact the
Engineering Department of
Stinar Corporation before
making any alterations.
CAUTION!
Always determine hydraulic
oil level and fill tank to the
proper level with van body
fully lowered. Otherwise,
overfilling will occur, resulting
in possible damage to tank
when system is operated.
2.1.1 | Use of Maintenance Stops
This unit is equipped with maintenance stops for blocking the scissors in
a partially raised position. The stops are pinned to the side of the scissors
frame and may be placed on the inside of each lower channel on the
scissors frame, where they will stop the rollers.
To use maintenance stops, proceed as follows:
1. Raise van body to a height of about 10 feet above the ground.
2. Place maintenance stops into position in work stop holders on
subframes.
3. Lower van body until rollers rest securely against maintenance stops.
2.1.2 | Truck Chassis-Cab
2.1.2.1 | General Engine/Chassis Servicing
Consult Ford Operation and Maintenance Manuals for information on
servicing the chassis-cab.
2.1.3 | Structural Components
2.1.3.1 | Sheet, Bar, and Tubular Member (Non-Load
Bearing)
• Repair cracks or metal fatigue failures by stop-drilling, welding,
patching, or splicing.
•
Prime and paint marred, rusted, or damaged finish using a high
grade primer and finish paint materials.
•
Clean areas that are extremely oily or greasy with mineral solvents
and degreasers before painting.
2.1.4 | Scissors and Platform
• Replace damaged or binding rollers.
• Keep roller guide channels clean and free from obstructions.
2.1.5 | Hydraulic System
2.1.5.1 | Hydraulic Oil Tank
The hydraulic oil tank is located on the left side of the truck frame. Check
the hydraulic oil level after every 100 hours of operation. Add hydraulic oil
as required. Recommended oil is Chevron Rykon AW32. Tank capacity is 30
U.S. gallons (114 liter). Fill the oil tank through the fill cap on top of the tank.
Follow these guidelines:
• Always drain and replace hydraulic oil if there is any doubt as to
its purity.
