SECTION 2 | SERVICING THE HIGH LIFT TRUCK
2.1.8 | Non-Scheduled Servicing
Non-scheduled servicing consists of adjustments and maintenance operations
that are not required at regular intervals, but are performed as required.
The table below lists common non-scheduled service needs:
SERVICE PROCEDURE
PERFORM WHEN
Tighten or replace leaking
hydraulic fittings.
Leaks are evident.
Replace cracked, cut, or
deteriorated hydraulic hoses.
Inspection reveals hoses are
deteriorated or leaks are evident.
Replace hydraulic cylinder seals.
Oil leaks from the cylinder are
evident.
Adjust lift flow control valve.
Lift lowers too rapidly. See Section
3 for procedure.
Adjust hydraulic pressure relief.
Hydraulic pressure is inadequate
to operate lift or stabilizers
smoothly. See Section 3 for
procedure.
Adjust hydraulic pressure switch.
Lift will not raise with stabilizers
fully lowered.
Bleed air from the hydraulic lines.
After removal or replacement of
hydraulic components. See Section
3 for procedure.
Replace burned out light bulbs or
fluorescent tubes.
Lights are burned out.
Service rear lift gate, generator set,
or heating/air conditioning unit.
As required.
2.1.9 | Lubrication
2.1.9.1 | Truck Chassis
Lubricate the truck chassis in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions. Refer to the truck owner’s manual for truck lubrication
information.
2.1.9.2 | Tracks
The tracks for the lift mechanism should be steam cleaned semi-annually.
This will prevent excessive binding and wear on the tracks and rollers.
The tracks for the sliding platform section should be steam cleaned at the
same time.
2.1.9.3 | Scissors Lift
Grease fittings on the scissors lift mechanism should be lubricated each week.
See the Lubrication table below and Figure 2.1.9.3 for locations of fittings.
NOTE:
A thin oil film should be
visible on the cylinder shaft.
A steady drip of oil indicates a
need for service.
CAUTION!
Scissors must be securely
blocked by maintenance stops
when lubricating scissors and
lift cylinder fittings.
NOTE:
Scissors must be fully
lowered to grease roller
fitting and front pivot pin
fittings. Holes in roller tracks
provide access to fittings.
