1.1.11 | Electrical System
The truck’s 12 VDC alternator/battery electrical system powers all electrical
functions on the truck. The following is a brief description of the major
electrical system components installed on this truck. See Figure 1.1.11 for
the Electrical System Schematic.
COMPONENT
DESCRIPTION
Electrical Box
The electrical control box is located on the
right side of the truck frame beneath the van
body. The box interior contains 16 relays, 5
circuit breakers, terminal strips, and diodes.
System Protection Fuse
This fuse provides overload protection to the
wiring between the battery and the electrical
box. This 60 amp. fuse is located inside
a fuse holder mounted inside the engine
compartment.
Start Circuit Protection
Fuse
This fuse provides overload protection to
the Stinar installed circuits connected to the
truck's HOSAR (Hot On Start And Run) circuit.
This 10 amp. fuse is located inside a fuse
holder mounted under the dashboard, near
the steering wheel
Operating Controls and
Indicators
Operating controls and indicators for the
van body, stabilizers, platform ramp, and
lighting are located in the cab and the van
body. The tailgate has its own control box and
pendant. See Section 1.2, for descriptions and
illustrations of these controls and indicators.
Stop Switch
The stop switch shuts off power to the engine
and the hydraulic system. Once used, the
switch must be reset to its normal (run)
position before the truck engine can be
restarted.
Van Body Electrical Components
Van Body Front Control
Station
This control box is located inside the van
body, at the front. It contains switches that
control the lift, front ramp, and lighting, as
well as the stop switch and a master control
switch. See Section 2 of this chapter for a
more detailed description.
