SECTION 1 | GENERAL INFORMATION & OPERATING PROCEDURES
Prior to operating the Stinar Disabled Passenger Transporter, all operators
and maintenance personnel should become thoroughly familiar with the
instructions given in this manual. They should then be checked out by a
qualified instructor before any attempt is made to operate the unit. No
instructions listed in this section cover driving the vehicle. The truck’s
Owner’s Manual includes this information.
1.2.1 | Operating Controls and Indicators
All controls for operating the unit are located in convenient places and are
clearly marked. The primary operating controls for raising and lowering
the van body and the stabilizers are located in the cab or on an electrical
control station in the van body. Various condition indicators are located in
the truck cab. The control switch for the rear lift gate is located on a control
box near the right rear corner of the lift gate. The generator unit controls
are located on the generator unit. See the following paragraphs for a
description of these controls and indicators.

COMPONENT
DESCRIPTION
Stabilizers control
switch
This up/down toggle switch is used to extend
(lower) and raise (retract) the stabilizer
legs. Holding it in either the up or the down
position engages the hydraulic pump.
Stabilizers down
indicator
When lit, this red light indicates the stabilizers
are not fully retracted.
Stabilizers set Indicator
When lit, this red light indicates that the
stabilizers are fully extended and pressurized.
Body control switch
This up/down toggle switch is used to raise
and lower the van body. Holding it in the up
position engages the hydraulic pump.
Body up indicator
When lit, this light green light indicates the
van body is not fully lowered.
Tailgate down indicator
When lit, this light red light indicates that the
rear tailgate (lift gate) is not fully stowed.
Body lights toggle
switch
This 3-way switch controls the 12-volt van
interior lights.
Rear lights toggle
switch
This 3-way switch controls the lights
illuminating the rear platform.
PTO indicator
When this is lit, the PTO is on.
Beacon indicator
When this is lit, the Beacon is on.
1.2 | OPERATION
CAUTION!
Stay clear of stabilizer legs
when lowering or raising
stabilizers.
NOTE:
The van body must be fully
lowered before the stabilizers can
be retracted.
NOTE:
To raise the lift, the engine
must be running, the parking
brake must be engaged, the
transmission must be in PARK, the
hydraulic pump running, and the
stabilizers set.
