0.25 gallons per minute (0.62 Lpm) and has a 2320 psi
(160 bar) capacity. The system pressure-control valve
reduces the operating pressure to 1740 psi (120 bar). There
is a manual foot pump for table operation in the event of
power loss to the 24 Vdc motor.
The hydraulic fluid is filtered by a filter located in the
pump.
3.3.2 Table Articulation/Operation
Throttle valve adjustments are available to set the
articulation speed of each section. Manual adjustment
can increase or reduce articulation speed. All cylinders
are double-acting type except for floor lock cylinders.
3.3.2.1 Side Tilt
Refer to Hydraulic System Schematic (W755718-023)
behind
The side tilt articulations involve the use of one hydraulic
cylinder.
3.3.2.2 Column Raise/Lower
Refer to Hydraulic System Schematic (W755718-023)
behind
One hydraulic cylinder is used to raise and lower tabletop.
3.3.2.3 Leg Up and Down
Refer to Hydraulic System Schematic (W755718-023)
behind
The leg up and down articulations require the use of two
hydraulic cylinders.
3.3.2.4 Flex/Reflex
Refer to Hydraulic System Schematic (W755718-023)
behind
Flexing and Reflexing the tabletop requires the
alternating use of the Trendelenburg and Back Section
hydraulic cylinders and position sensors under direction
of the controller.
3.3.2.5 Trendelenburg/Reverse Trendelenburg
Refer to Hydraulic System Schematic (W755718-023)
behind
The Trendelenburg and Reverse Trendelenburg
articulations involve the use of one hydraulic cylinder.
3.3.2.6 Back Up/Down
Refer to Hydraulic System Schematic (W755718-023)
behind
The back up and down articulations require the use of
two hydraulic cylinders.
3.3.2.7 Floor Lock Operation
NOTE:
Not all STERIS 4085 General Surgical Tables are
equipped with compensating floor locks.
Refer to Hydraulic System and Self-Compensating
Schematics behind
Tab.
The Self-Compensating Floor Lock system is designed to
improve the locking capability of the table on an
excessively uneven floor.
As the hydraulic cylinders extend and the feet just touch
the floor, the pressures between cylinders equalize as
hydraulic fluid gets pushed across the floor locks.
NOTE: If there happens to be a very low spot directly under
a foot, that particular hydraulic cylinder may extend fully
and the foot never actually encounters the floor surface.
Once all feet are in contact with a surface (or the cylinders
reach full extention), the pressure in the floor lock
manifold spikes above 595 psi (41 bar) and is sensed by
the pressure switch D2 (P2). Pressure Switch D2 (P2)
opens and cuts power to the solenoids Y71-Y76. The table
is fully locked with each cylinder being extended by a
different amount and the casters are still in contact with
the floor. Pressure switch D1 (P1) tells the control the
system is locked until it sees the pressure drop below
145 psi (10 bar).
3.4 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
3.4.1 Overview
The STERIS 4085 General Surgical Table control system
is designed for maximum reliability and includes
adequate system redundancy for almost any
circumstance. The control system utilizes microprocessor
technology to control the hydraulic pump speed, solenoid
valves, timing of solenoids, user interface controls, sensor
reading, communication, etc.
The master control system resides on the column and the
hand control is connected to the table via a coiled corded
connection at the column. The hand control is a user
interface and primarily responsible for communicating
the keypad button presses and displays various system
user feedback. A secondary and backup control system
allows basic table functionality should the primary
microprocessor system become inoperative, or if batteries
are depleted.
The master computer selects which outputs are to be
actuated based on inputs from the hand control, foot
CAUTION – POSSIBLE EQUIPMENT
DAMAGE: Static electricity can damage
microprocessor controls. Indiscriminate
probing of circuits or improper
connections may result in immediate or
delayed electrical failure. If the electronics
are to be accessed, use a personal
grounding device. Exercise care in all
activities involving the electronic circuitry
