2.1 TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Accessories -

Optional surgical procedure devices

attaching to the Surgical Table usually at the Side Rails.

ABS -

ALS System -

Auto Limit Sensor

™

control device

(using Intelligent Limit Sensors) provides instant user
feedback on conflicting Tabletop articulations and
how to resolve the conflict when the table is positioned
in standard configuration.

Auxiliary Control System -

Actuated at any time to

allow table operation in the event of primary control
or power malfunction. A pedal (foot pump to provide
hydraulic power) and Backup Hand Control comprise
this system. The foot pedal is located at the side of the
Table Base.

Backup (Override) Hand Control

Located on patient

right side behind a cover plate and stored in the Table
Base.

Electrohydraulic -

Combination of electric and

hydraulic mechanisms.

FIT Pads -

Flex -

Tabletop position where back section moves down

and Tabletop moves into Reverse Trendelenburg.

Foot Control -

Physician control of Surgical Table

using foot pedals. Hand Control selections override
Foot Control selections.

Floor Locks -

Hydraulically operated table locking

system located in the Surgical Table Base.

Hand Control -

Constructed of one-piece

thermoformed plastic, is the primary interface for table
operation. Hand Control is equipped with a 12' (3.7 m)
extended long detachable cord. The Hand Control
plugs into a receptacle located at the top of the Table
Column. Membrane touch switches provide, through
an auxiliary CPU, input signals to activate table
functions and articulations.

HMI -

Human Machine Interface (such as Hand, Foot

or Auxiliary Control).

I/O -

Input/Output.

LCD Display -

Hand Control Liquid Crystal Display

indicating table status, tabletop positioning and
control system messages to user.

LED -

Light Emitting Diode.

Normal Patient Positioning -

Patient is positioned on

Surgical Table with head on head section.

Pinch Point -

During patient positioning or Tabletop

movement where a potential exists for pinching a hand
or foot of the patient or healthcare professional using
the table.

Power Panel -

Located at head-end of the Table Base.

Contains main power switch, primary fuses, ac
receptacle for power cord, INTELLIPOWER

display

and ground equalization terminal (male connection).

Reflex -

Tabletop position where back section moves

up and Tabletop moves into Trendelenburg position.

Reverse Patient Positioning -

Head section is secured

to end of leg section. Patient is positioned on Surgical
Table with head on head section.

Reverse Trendelenburg -

Lowering of Tabletop leg or

foot section toward the floor.

Reverse Orientation -

Touch Pad on Hand Control.

Press this touch pad to change patient orientation
(NORMAL or REVERSE). Yellow LED indicates
patient in reverse orientation; Green LED indicates
patient in normal orientation.

Side Rail -

Stainless-Steel rail attached to both sides of

Surgical Table Tabletop.

Surgical Table -

STERIS 4085 General Surgical Table.

Table Base -

Painted welded steel covered by stainless-

steel or plastic enclosure. Base contains casters, floor
locks, power assembly, Backup (Override) Hand
Control and hydraulic fluid.

Table Column -

Supports Tabletop and includes

master computer, lift cylinders, bearings, hydraulic
piping, Trendelenburg hydraulic actuators and
wiring. Covered and protected by four two-piece
stainless-steel or plastic shrouds.

Tabletop -

Four section (head, back, seat and leg)

interlocking top supported by the Table Column and
mobile Table Base.

Tilt -

Lateral Tilt, movement of the Tabletop laterally.

Trendelenburg -

Lowering of Tabletop head section

toward the floor.

TLT Pads -

Tri-Layer Technology Surgical Table Pads.
