Using the Blade Operator Panel
The operator panel (Figure 4-12) on each blade populated with drives includes a color
LCD screen and three buttons. The buttons let you navigate through the options
displayed on the screen and make selections. For security, the buttons on the operator
panel are typically locked to prevent access to the drives in the blade. The buttons are
locked and unlocked through the BlueScale web interface (see
Unlocking and Locking
Operator Buttons
on page 69).
Note:
The nTier700 VTL can have up to three blades installed. When
fewer than three blades are installed, a blade blank is installed in
lieu of a blade to prevent contaminates from entering the
enclosure and to maintain proper air flow.
When the buttons on a blade are unlocked, you can use the
>
and
<
buttons on the
operator panel to move between the tabs that display along the bottom of the screen.
Each tab allows you to either view status information or perform some type of
operation.
