Inventorying the Components
Each Spectra nTier700 VTL is unique, depending on the specific configuration ordered.
At a minimum, the nTier700 VTL includes one fully-populated blade and two power
supplies.
Note:
The blades, blanks, and power supplies you ordered are shipped
already installed. The drives are shipped in separate boxes, one
box of ten drives for each blade you ordered.
Caution:
Do not remove the drives from their box until you are ready to
install them in a blade. Each box of drives is preconfigured as a
RAID 6 volume to be installed in a single blade. Mixing the
drives from one box with the drives from another box will force
a complete rebuild of the RAID 6 volumes in each blade where
drives have been mixed.
Unpack and identify the components that shipped with the nTier700 VTL using the
following table for reference. You typically will not have all of the components listed in
the table.
Component Description
Rack mounting kit Included in the accessory box. The rack mounting kit includes all the
components required to mount the nTier700 VTL in a standard 4-post,
19-inch rack.
Antistatic
wristband Included in the accessory box. An antistatic wristband to be worn when
handling the disk drives.
Power cords Included in the accessory box. Two power cords are provided with the
standard configuration (for either 110 VAC or 220 VAC operation). If you
purchased the N+1 power option, one additional power cord is provided.

Blades and blade
blanks The base nTier700 VTL includes one blade and five blanks. Up to two
additional blades can be ordered and will be shipped installed.
Drives One box of ten drives, each mounted on a drive sled, is shipped with the
nTier700 VTL. For each additional blade you ordered, the ten drives for
the blade are shipped in a separate box. The number of boxes of drives
you receive depends on the number of blades you purchased.
