Root expanders.
Two SAS root expanders connect to the host bus adapters (HBAs)
in the server and function to expand the internal SAS bus. Each root expander
connects to three blades to provide connectivity to the up to 40 disk drives that can
be installed in the nTier700. Each root expander includes three external SAS
connectors for future upgrades.

Power supplies.
The standard nTier700 VTL configuration includes two power
supplies. A third power supply can be installed to provide N+1 redundancy and
failover protection. The power supply needed for the N+1 power redundancy
configuration is an option you can purchase separately or when you order your
system.

Each power supply has its own AC power connector. Cord locks on each power
cord secure the cord to prevent it from being inadvertently disconnected.
ƒ
Each power supply has a single LED that illuminates to indicate when the power
is on and functioning normally.
ƒ
Auxiliary fans.
The auxiliary fan module supplements the interior fans to provide
additional cooling and air circulation for the power supply modules.
Operator Panel
The operator panel on each blade (Figure 1-3) includes a color LCD screen and three
buttons for navigating through the options displayed on the screen and for making
selections.
