Optional connectivity.
Up to two additional interface cards can be installed in the
server expansion slots to provide additional connectivity, if desired. You can install
one additional 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) network interface card (NIC) to provide
additional network connectivity or host bus adapters (HBAs) to provide Fibre
Channel or SCSI connectivity to a tape library.

High availability.
In addition to the RAID 6 protected data storage, batteries
provide power to protect the data in the RAID write cache memory for up to
72 hours in the event of a power failure. The N+1 redundant power supplies, the
drives in each blade, and the dedicated drives used by the server are hot-swappable
for uninterrupted operation.
ƒ
Easy network-based administration.
The integrated nTier700 VTL server can be
configured for remote administration over an Ethernet network using telnet, Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL), Secure Shell (SSH), or user-enabled custom host scripts.
ƒ
Configurable power recovery.
If desired, you can use the operator panel on any of
the blades to configure how the nTier700 VTL restores power following a power
loss without having to change the BIOS setting for the server. Depending on the
configuration you select, the nTier700 VTL can restore power even if the server is
unavailable. See
Configuring the Power Recovery Behavior on page 45 for more
information.

Remote power management.
The integrated Intel Remote Management Module 2
(Intel RMM2) provides remote power management that functions independently
from the operating system used by the nTier700 VTL.

Rack-mount hardware.
The nTier700 VTL is designed to mount in a standard
4-post, 19-inch rack using just 4U (7 inches) of rack space. Rack-mounting
hardware is included with the unit. Alternatively, the nTier700 can be placed on a
level tabletop or other horizontal surface.
