Troubleshooting
31) Heating hot water
The current temperature in the hot wa-
ter boiler is more than 8 ºC below the
set temperature.
It is still possible to dispense hot water,
provided that the "Wait for HW temp"
configuration parameter is not
switched on in the "General parame-
ters".
See "Service technician menu" - "Configuration" -
"General parameters" in the "12 Wait for hot water
temperature" parameter on setting the function.
Up to software 5.03: This message also appears
when the boiler is heating but hot water can still be
dispensed.
As of software 5.14: This message only appears if hot
water cannot yet be dispensed.
The boiler element is switched on.
The message should disappear after a short time.
The machine was switched off for an
extended period.
Depending on the power supply and the boiler capac-
ity (2 or 3 kW), heating can take a few minutes.
The "Klixon" safety equipment was trig-
gered.

Reset the "Klixon" safety equipment again or re-
place it if faulty.
32) Heating steam
The current temperature in the steam
boiler is more than 7°C below the set
temperature. Dispensing of steam and
of beverages requiring steam is
blocked.
See "Service technician menu" - "Configuration" -
"General parameters" in the "3 Temperature steam"
parameter on setting the function.
The boiler element is switched on.
The message should disappear after a short time.
The machine was switched off for an
extended period.
Depending on the power supply and the boiler capac-
ity (2, 3 or 6 kW), heating can take a few minutes.
The "Klixon" safety equipment was trig-
gered.

Reset the "Klixon" safety equipment again or re-
place it if faulty.
33) Front panel missing
The middle front cover over the
grounds container is missing.
Before week 24/2007: This message is not used if the
machine has the conventional wiring.

Mount the front cover and ensure it is properly
aligned at the top and bottom.
The magnet on the inner right side is
missing.

Mount the magnet on the right side of the middle
cover.
34) Water tank empty
The external drinking water tank was
activated in the "General parameters"
menu. The float switch has detected a
low level.
See "Service technician menu" - "Configuration" -
"General parameters" in the "17 Water tank supply"
parameter for further information.

Fill the external drinking water tank.
The float switch of the drinking water
tank for level monitoring is faulty.

Check the wiring to the float switch.

Check the float switch.
35) Waste water tank full
The external waste water tank was ac-
tivated in the "General parameters"
menu. The level sensor has detected a
high level.
See "Service technician menu" - "Configuration" -
"General parameters" in the "18 Waste water tank"
parameter for further information.

Empty the external waste water tank.
The float switch of the waste water tank
for level monitoring is faulty.

Check the wiring to the float switch.

Check the float switch.
36) Initialising
When the machine is switched on, it
first initialises the brewing unit. To do
this, the brewing piston is moved to the
upper and lower position.
See "Service technician menu" - "System" - "Test /
calibration" in the "Move brew cylinder" menu for fur-
ther information.
It was not possible to initialise the pis-
ton positions.

Wait for the piston to move to the positions again.
The error message does not reset itself
automatically. The piston of the brew-
ing unit is blocked.

Check the piston of the brewing unit and manually
check the positions using the "Move brew cylin-
der" menu.
