8-8 Line Length and Leading Adjustment
The line length and leading on the output copy from the PantherPro/46 image recorder is
adjusted by changing the line length and leading values that are stored in non-volatile RAM
on the BOB/WCB.
The line length value affects the speed of the polygon motor; as the polygon motor slows
down the line length decreases, and as the polygon motor speeds up the line length
increases. If the line length is too long, a negative value must be entered. If the line length is
too short, a positive value must be entered.
The leading value affects the speed of the servo leading motor; as the leading motor slows
down the leading decreases, and as the leading motor speeds up the leading increases.
Similar to setting the line length, a negative value is entered if the leading is too long and a
positive value is entered if it is too short.
Each one number increase or decrease in the line length or leading value represents a
change of approximately 0.001 inches on the copy. The line length and leading value can be
changed via the remote or local keypad of the recorder. The line length and leading value is
recorded in the electronics chassis.
Note: If having difficulty setting line length and leading values, perform the following:
1. Set line length and leading values to zero.
2. Reimage and measure line length and leading test copy.
3. Enter actual offset value.
The following key sequence is used to access and enter the line length and leading values
stored in the image recorder non-volatile RAM:
Step 1.
Turn the recorder on and allow the main application program stored on Page
Buffer drive 0 to execute.
Step 2.
Place the recorder "OFF-LINE" by pressing the "ON-LINE" (horseshoe) key.
Step 3.
Locate the margin icon. Refer to the PantherPro/46 User's Guide if necessary.
Step 4.
Press the "." key followed by the "+/-" key. This key sequence (., +/-) will be
referred to as "magic keys".
Note: If the magic keys are depressed when the line length and leading icons are
displayed, non-volatile RAM will be reset, thus returning all recorder values such as line
length, leading, exposure, etc. to recorder default values.
Step 5.
The current line length and leading values will be displayed under their
respective icons. Change the values accordingly using the numeric key pad. Be
sure to depress the left arrow key to store each completed entry.
8-9 Margin Adjustment
The margin on the output copy from the PantherPro/46 recorder is adjusted by changing the
margin values that are stored in non-volatile RAM.
