P. Punch Motor Control and Drive
The punch motor control is implemented by 1 bit of the Motor Control Register. The punch
runs for a minimum of 1.5 seconds, and stops when the Punch Home switch is closed.
Software will be able to determine through 2 status bits when a punch cycle has completed
and whether the punch is at "home position", out of the film path. A circuit detects the
presence of a punch motor, and informs software by a register bit.
Q. On-line Processor (OLP) Interface
A register is provided whose bits control and monitor a pair of On-line Processor interfaces. A
Colenta OLP interface is added to the high byte of the register, while the existing LOG-E
interface (PrePRESS OEM) remains unchanged in the low byte.
The BOB has a 26 pin header, which connects to the I/O bulkhead via a 26 pin ribbon cable
to a 25 pin D connector.
3-3 High Speed Laser Amplifier (HSLA) PCB
3-3.1 Functional Overview
The High Speed Laser Amplifier (HSLA) PCB interfaces to the Big Output Board and High
Speed Laser Driver (HSLD) PCB. The start of line (SOL) sensor is also connected to J1 of
the HSLA PCB.
New features included in the HSLA PCB are as follows:
• Increased data throughput to allow for the higher data rates required.
• The video pulse forming circuitry has been moved to the WCB/BOB where
it shall be formed using the pixel clock. This allows for an average laser
power of 50% to be more closely achieved, regardless of the recorder
resolution.
• The functions of the HSLA PCB and HSLD PCB have been rearranged to
allow for independent replacement. They are no longer a matched set .
• Laser ENHANCE time power, the laser mode before start of each scanline,
is no longer related to the laser's intensity during imaging. For example,
the exposure settings shall not influence the ability of the HSLA PCB/SOL
sensor to detect a "START" pulse.
The HSLA PCB contains the following circuitry:
• Buffering circuitry for all signals passed to the High Speed Laser Driver
(HSLD) PCB.
• Sample Hold Circuit which samples laser power for calibration.
• Voltage Regulation
• Start of Line Detection
3-3.2 Description
3-3.2.1 Signal Buffering
The Video (Intensity, Sample/Hold, Video, Bias_On, Start) and ENHANCE signals are simply
buffered on the HSLA PCB and passed on to the HSLD PCB. It is the duty of the BOB/WCB to
