6-2.2 Scan Lens
Material
• Lens cleaning tissue
• 99% minimum purity isopropyl alcohol.
Procedure
NOTE: Maintain all Anti static Replacement/Removal Procedures for PC boards
while performing these procedures.
NOTE: Since 99% pure alcohol is to be used, be sure to work in a well ventilated
area.
Step 1.
Power down the system.
Step 2.
Remove the optics cover. Refer to Section 7, if necessary.
Step 3.
Remove the scan lens. Refer to Section 7, if necessary.
Step 4.
Carefully remove the scan lens and place it on a flat surface.
DO NOT touch the front or rear lens surface with
your hands, as this will leave oils on the surface.
Step 5.
Place the lens cleaning tissue over the front lens.
Step 6.
Drip isopropyl alcohol on the tissue until it is soaked and in full contact
with the lens surface.
Step 7.
Slide the tissue across the lens surface without lifting it. This should
minimize streaking.
Step 8.
Repeat steps 6 through 8 for the rear side of the scan lens.
Step 9.
Scan lens cleaning is now complete.
Step 10.
Re-install the scan lens by reversing steps one through four
above.
Step 11.
Run copy and inspect image to determine if density variation meets
specification.
