Caution: Use of controls, adjustments or performance of procedures other than those
specified herein, may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
6-1 Periodic Maintenance
The PantherPro/46 image recorder requires a minimal amount of maintenance. Periodically,
based upon environmental conditions and usage, maintenance may be necessary.
6-1.1 Clean
The following checklist is to be used when performing periodic maintenance on the
PantherPro/46 image recorder:
• Covers and panels
• Electronics chassis cooling fans and floor
• Media transport area, chaff tray, and rollers (normally performed by customer)
• Optics bed floor and optics* (polygon scanner facets, first cylinder lens, cylinder
lens, beam steering mirror, laser fan/filter)
6-1.2 Check
Check the following items when performing periodic maintenance on the PantherPro/46
image recorder:
• Light shielding material
• Power knife carriage
• Spur gear and worm gear lubricant
• Adjustable clutch
6-2 Optics Cleaning Procedures
General Overview
In certain environments it is possible that the PantherPro/46 optics may become
coated with a thin film or dirt which may require cleaning. The source of this film could
be from cigarette smoke or processor chemical fumes. In the case of processor fumes
condensing on the facets/lenses, if not cleaned off it could cause pitting which may
require part replacement.
Typically, in cases where density variation across the media width exists and all other
avenues (light shielding material, media, chemistry) have been explored to resolve
this condition, it is possible that the facets or lenses (scan, Ist cylinder, and 2nd
cylinder) may need cleaning.
Note: The optics cleaning procedure(s) may be performed only if dirt
cannot be removed with an optics approved air duster.
