PantherPro/46 Image Recorder

PrePRESS SOLUTIONS CONFIDENTIAL
8-3
Switch 3 - POLYSW - Brings polygon up to speed independent of software, using only
hardware generated signals. During normal operation, the polygon will not spin up until the
main application program is loaded. Lock and OK LEDs should be lit.
Switch 4 - POLYTYPE - Tells software polygon type (on for Lincoln type, off for Copal). Not
currently implemented. At present (5/15/95), only Lincoln type polygon motors assemblies
have been used in the PantherPro/46/36.
LEDs
Ten LEDs in two groups are associated with the Recorder Output Module. They are located
on the top left of the board with a silk-screened name above each. One group of 8 green
LEDs are for status, and two red LEDs (POLY ERR, FIFO MT) indicate an error condition.
Each of these LEDs are described as follows:
LOCK
Indicates Polygon Driver PCB has locked the polygon speed. This should
always be lit (within 35 seconds) when the polygon is spun up.
LO
The next three LEDs indicate polygon speed is low, ok, or high. They are
OK
updated every scan line, and, when the polygon is spun up, OK should be
lit
HI
and LO and HI never lit.
STOK
Start pulses are being found by the SOL/SOL Amplifier assembly and fed
back to the BOB/WCB via the High Sped Laser Amplifier PCB.
VMWR
Indicates video writes into the Dual Ported Video Memory from the
compression chip. This LED is not brightly lit.
VMWR
Indicates video reads from the Dual Ported Video Memory to the ScanLine
FIFO. This LED is not brightly lit.
VID
Indicates actual Video data. This LED is lit during the exposed parts of an
image (laser on). Note the sample/hold and enhance video activity light is
dimly it even during an all white image (laser off).
POLY ERR
Indicates a Polygon Error condition. This happens only during imaging (Page
Enable on); the LED is kept on until the start of the next image. This error is
caused by loss of SPEED OK, however briefly, during an image. The loss of
LOCK is not monitored if a no (speed) lock PAL is installed.
FIFO MT
Indicates a FIFO Empty Error condition. This happens only during imaging
(Page Enable ON); the LED is kept on until the start of the next image. This
error is caused when a video read from the Scan Line FIFO is attempted and
the FIFO is already empty.
Switches and LEDs Used for a Quick Check of Polygon and Laser
1. Put the 4 switches (PGEN, SHOLD, POLYSW, and POLYTYPE) of dip switch
SW4 to the open position.
