Troubleshooting
5-1
Chapter 5:
This chapter describes troubleshooting the LoaderXpress, including diagnosing
problems, following error recovery procedures, using fault symptom codes, and using
the Demo submenu to test operation.
Diagnosing Problems
There are two main types of problems that can cause the LoaderXpress to
malfunction:
platform problems
and/or
general loader errors .
Platform Problems
Platform problems are caused by incorrect installation and configuration. The most
common characteristic of this type of error is that the LoaderXpress appears to
operate normally, except that no data can be interchanged. You may not get an error
code on the Control Panel. To identify an error as this type of problem, check your
installation and configuration setup, refer to
General Drive Errors
General loader errors are usually caused by a miscommunication between the
controller and the drive processor or a mechanical malfunction. A general loader error
will display a message and a fault symptom code (FSC) on the Control Panel, except
for power supply and display malfunctions. Use the FSC to determine a recovery
procedure.
You can clear some error messages by pressing the
Enter
button on the Control Panel,
or by cycling the power to the module. If errors keep occurring, a more extensive
recovery procedure, may be required. Refer to
later in this
chapter for information on locating persistent errors.
