Chapter 4:
The only regular maintenance tasks that you should perform are Run or Replace the
Cleaning Cartridge . There are User Diagnostics on the Demo submenu that you can
use to check the operation of the LoaderXpress. Occasionally, Overland Storage issues
new firmware which must be installed by qualified service personnel.
The Maintenance Menu offers the following options:

Clean Drive
•
Diagnostic Menu
•
Demo Menu
•
Flash Update
•
Novram Update
•
Clock Update
•
Flash SDLT
•
Reboot Module
Of these, only Clean Drive, Demo Menu, and Reboot Module are intended for the user.
This chapter tells you how to clean the drives. The Demo Menu is described in
Chapter 5, “Troubleshooting” .
Cleaning Cartridge
The cleaning cartridge is similar in appearance to the cartridge shown in Chapter 3,
“Operation” . There are two ways to run a cleaning cartridge. 1) You can issue a
command to run the cartridge from the Control Panel, or 2) You can choose the Auto
Clean mode on the Configure Menu, described in
Chapter 2, “Installation” . The
procedures that follow instruct you how to install a cleaning cartridge, how to clean a
drive using front panel controls, and how to remove the cleaning cartridge.
