I/O Allocations to CompoNet Master Unit
Section 5-3
• The system allocates 2 bits to each Bit Unit starting from the lower bits.
Bit Units are SmartSlice I/O Units that have two or more bits of I/O (for
example, the GRT1-ID4/OD4).
• The system allocates words to each Word Unit starting from words
with lower addresses. Word Units are SmartSlice I/O Units that have
one or more words of I/O (for example, the GRT1-AD2/DA2C).

W455) for information on each Bit Unit and Word Unit model of SmartSlice
I/O Units and specifications.

Participation Status of the SmartSlice I/O Units
The system allocates 8 words for the participation status of the SmartSlice
I/O Units.
Allocation Example
The system allocates words to the SmartSlice I/O Units in the sequence in
which they are connected (in the sequence of unit numbers). The models of
the SmartSlice I/O Units have no effect on the sequence of allocations.
Unless you use the CX-Integrator to set I/O allocations, the system always
allocates words in the same sequence starting from the first word for the node
address. The sequence is the status, left SmartSlice I/O Unit, subsequent
SmartSlice I/O Unit on the right side, other SmartSlice I/O Units. The system
allocates words to Input Units in the Input Area and to Output Units in the Out-
put Area.
The system allocates words for status of the CompoNet Communications Unit
and the participation status of the SmartSlice I/O Units in the Input Area.
Data Patterns in I/O Memory
You can make these patterns in I/O memory for I/O allocations.
