BIOS Setup
This section describes how to set the Basic Input Output System (BIOS).
When installing this server or adding/removing options, understand the descriptions provided
here thoroughly to perform the setting properly.
System BIOS -SETUP-
SETUP is a utility to set the basic hardware of this server. This utility can be executed without the
dedicated utility as it is installed as a standard in the flash memory of this server.
It is usually unnecessary to use SETUP as the contents to be set with SETUP are set to the most
standard and optimal state for this server before shipment. Use SETUP as necessary for the
following cases.
Depending on the OS, BIOS settings are needed to be changed from the default settings.
Referring to appendix C “Settings for each OS”, change the BIOS settings so that it is suitable for
the OS which is being installed.
IMPORTANT:
• SETUP operation should be performed by a system
administrator.
• Password can be set in the SETUP operation. There are 2 levels
of passwords, “Supervisor” and “User”. All the items can be
changed when accessing SETUP with a “Supervisor” level
password.
When a “Supervisor” password is set, the items whose settings
are changeable with “User” level password are limited.
• Do not set a password before installing OS (Operating System).
• Some items (menu) are not specifically explained in this Guide.
These items are set to the optimal parameter for operation before
shipment. Do not change the items whose explanations are not
given in this Guide. Proper operation of this server cannot be
guaranteed or it may cause failure of this server.
• The latest version of BIOS utility is installed in this server. Thus,
the screen for settings may differ from the contents explained in
this Guide. For setting items, refer to online help or contact the
maintenance service company.
