Disabling FTP Access (
‘FTPD’)
Mellanox allows you to disable the FTP non-secure protocol on the remote server using the
following commands to provide enhanced security access to your system.
To set ftpd via the CLI:
Step 1
From the 10G CLI, go to
config
security
mode and disable the
ftpd
status, as follows:
Example:
10G(config-security)# ftpd set disable
Step 2
View the
ftpd
status, as follows.
Example:
10G(config-security)# ftpd show
ftpd disable

Disabling Telnet Access
The telnet daemon provides the server function for the telnet protocol.
The telnet feature enables you to access the switch from a remote site. Telnet is less secure
than SSH and in order to enhance security, it is recommended that you disable the telnet
daemon as described below.
To set telnetd via the CLI:
Step 1
From the 10G CLI go to
config
security
menu and set the
telnetd
status, as follows:
Example:
10G(config-security)# telnetd set disable
Step 2
View the
telnetd
status, as follows.
Example:
10G(config-security)# telnetd show
telnetd disable
