MagneMover LITE User Manual

Rockwell Automation Publication MMI-UM002E-EN-P - March 2016
To remove propulsion power to the motors, the MM LITE power supply (refer to
) has a propulsion power DC Enable input which turns the propul-
sion power on/off on the DC side. If the DC Enable is not used, MMI recommends removing
power from the AC side of the power supplies. However, if power must be switched on the
DC side of the power supply because AC power cannot be turned on/off, then it is acceptable
to switch the DC power using appropriately rated solid-state relays.

*
Control power.
†
Additional power drawn by the motor per magnet array when
the vehicle (puck) is moving. When the vehicle is moving at
maximum acceleration the additional power drawn can be as
much as 35 W per magnet array. When multiple magnet arrays
are on the motor at the same time the amount of power drawn
per array will increase as the arrays get closer to each other.
NOTICE
Never disable propulsion power by switching the propulsion input pin of the
motor from the DC power source directly to ground as this will produce
large current spikes that will damage the electronics.
NOTICE
Any user-supplied power supply must be NRTL/ATL approved.
NOTICE
Hot-plugging of either power source to the motors is not recommended.
