7.12.1.4 Drive Wheel Removal/Installation
DANGER
To avoid severe personal injury or death
caused by machine runaway, shut off engine
and remove key before performing any of the
following checks and/or adjustments.
a. Remove
header.
b. Park windrower on level ground, and block all
wheels.
c. Place GSL in N-DETENT, shut down engine, and
remove key.
d. Jack up windrower under leg jack point, and raise
windrower wheel slightly off ground.
e. Undo wheel nuts, and remove wheel.
f. To install new tire, ensure that air valves are on
outside and tire tread point forward. For Turf tires
(diamond tread), be sure arrow on sidewall points
in forward rotation.
g. Position wheel on hub, and install wheel nuts.
h. Tighten nuts to 220 lb-ft (300 N·m) using the
tightening sequence shown above.
NOTE
To avoid damage to wheel rims, do not
over-tighten wheel nuts.
i. Repeat sequence three times.
j. Lower windrower, and remove jack.
NOTE
At first use, or when a wheel is removed,
check drive wheel nut torque every 15
minutes on the road or 1 hour in the field
until the specified torque is maintained.
Continue with a checking schedule of 10
and 50 hours (field or road operation), and
then every 200 hour intervals thereafter.
