EX i Program P4: Basic/Vector
These pages control the basic elements of the Program,
along with the Vector synthesis features. For instance,
you can:
• Select the EX i instruments which form the basis of
the Program’s sound
• Set up Vector fades between EX i 1 and EX i 2
• Set up Vector CCs to modulate Program and Effects
parameters
• Program the Vector Envelope to move the Vector
position automatically
4–1: Program Basic
This page contains all of the basic settings for the
Program. Among other things, you can:
• Select the EX i instruments which form the basis of
the Program’s sound
• Set the Program to play polyphonically or
monophonically
• Create a keyboard split between EX i 1 and EX i 2
• Select the Program’s scale
4–1a: EX i 1
EX i 1 Instrument Type [List of installed EX i ]
This is the most basic setting for the EX i Program. EX i
instruments are complete synthesizers, in and of
themselves; they may create or process sounds in
completely different ways, and allow you to adjust
completely different parameters.
For instance, one EX i might be a virtual analog
synthesizer, and another might be a physically
modeled tone-wheel organ.
This menu displays all of the EX i ’s installed on the
system.
You can select either one or two EX i ’s for the Program.
Unlike HD-1 Programs, there is no setting for Single or
Double. If there are two EX
i ’s, it doesn’t matter which
EX i is in which slot. You can even select only a single
EX i , but place it in the second slot.

This is the second EX i slot for the Program.
4–1c: Voice Assign Mode
Voice Assign options may vary with different EX i
As much as possible, different EX i instruments will
support all of the voice assign options. However, there
may be some cases in which a particular EX
i does not
support a specific voice assign parameter.
Additionally, when a Program uses two different EX i
instruments, some of the voice assign options will only
take affect if they are supported by both EX
i . These
include:
• The main Mode selection (Poly or Mono)
• Poly Legato
• Single Trigger
