EXIT Statement
EXIT Statement
The EXIT statement terminates a DDL session.
EXIT Statement Guidelines
The following points are guidelines for using the EXIT statement:
•
When you run DDL in interactive mode, an EXIT statement terminates DDL and
returns you to the command interpreter.
•
When you run DDL in noninteractive mode, an EXIT statement within the source
schema terminates DDL at that point and returns you to the command interpreter.
Use of the EXIT statement within a source schema is optional, because reaching
the end of the file performs the same function.
•
EXIT closes any files that were opened in the session.
•
Entering CTRL/Y at the terminal has the same effect as an end-of-file mark. If you
type CTRL/Y at the DDL prompt, DDL displays EOF! and ends the session.
EXIT Statement Examples
The following example shows the use of the EXIT statement in an interactive DDL
session.

10> VOLUME $data.sales
11> DDL

!OUTPUT RECORD customer .
!EXIT
Go to subvolume where dictionary resides
Run DDL compiler
Open dictionary
Open file-creation source file
Write record to FUPSRC
Return to command interpreter
