3.8. Replacing sampling needle

Procedure on ABX Micros ES60 CT:
1- Close the tube holder door.
2- Open the main door (See 3.2. Cover dismantling, page 7-6 ).
3- Enter menu " Maintenance\Serv.\Mechanical cycles.
4- Press " Door opening " radio button.
5- Press " Start cycle " button ( Diag.7-11 ) to open the tube holder door.
6- Remove the tube holder.
7- Hold the sampling needle mounting bracket on the upper right edge and move the sampling
needle downwards until you can see the top of the needle and sample tubing.
8- Remove the tubing from the top of the sampling needle.
9- Remove the sampling needle retaining clip (pull the clip out horizontally towards the front of the
analyser).
10- Hold the sampling needle mounting bracket on the upper right edge and move the sample
upwards until the top of the needle is just below the front panel.
11- Very carefully pull the sampling needle slightly out of its retaining slot.
12- Now hold the sampling needle around the retaining collar, very carefully lift up the needle so
that it is free from the white needle guide.
13- Place the new sampling needle in the white needle guide.
14- Place the retaining collar of the needle into its slot.
15- Place retaining clip back onto the mounting bracket. (Leave a 3mm gap between the needle and
clip. This will ensure that the sampling needle will move freely, when moving up and down through
the needle guide).
16- Re-connect the sample tubing to the top of the needle so that it is air tight.
17- Hold the sampling needle mounting bracket on the upper right edge and move the sampling
needle upwards until the tip of the sampling needle is inside the piercing needle.
18- Press " Status " button to open " Status " area.
19- Press " Startup " button to run a startup. Verify that background results are within their limits.
20- Re-run the Quality Controls to verify correct results.
The sampling needle is fragile and may bend if not inserted into the needle
guide correctly. Be careful when placing the needle. Try to maintain a vertical
position of the needle when inserting it into the white needle guide.
