If the peak voltage measured at the PCM connector
is normal, measure the peak voltage at the CKP sen-
sor connector.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the CKP sensor 2P (Red) connector.
Connect the peak voltage adapter to the CKP sensor
2P connector terminals of the sensor side.
In the same manner as at the CKP sensor connector,
measure the peak voltage and compare it to the
voltage measured at the PCM connector.
• If the peak voltage measured at the CKP sensor is
normal and the one measured at the PCM is
abnormal, the wire harness has an open or short
circuit, or loose connection.
• If both peak voltages measure are abnormal,
check each item in the troubleshooting chart
(page 20-4). If all items are normal, the CKP sen-
sor is faulty. See following steps for CKP sensor
replacement (page 13-7).
Install the removed parts in the reverse order of
removal.
USING THE TEST HARNESS
• Check all system connections before performing
this inspection. If the system is disconnected,
incorrect peak voltage might be measured.
• Check that the cylinder compression is normal
and the spark plug is installed correctly.
Place the scooter on its center stand.
Connect the test harness to the PCM 33P (Black)
connector (page 6-17).
Connect the peak voltage adaptor to the terminals
of the test harness.
Turn the engine stop switch " " and ignition switch
ON.
Crank the engine with the starter switch and mea-
sure the CKP sensor peak voltage.
CONNECTION: Yellow (+) – White/yellow (–)
